Animals in Unexpected Places, From a Parrot's Pineapple Hat to a Snail's Board

A Squirrel Reaches for a Drink Beside the Pool

A small squirrel stands upright on a glass-topped table, gripping a bent drinking straw beside a tall glass with a little pale liquid remaining at the bottom. Its narrow body and long bushy tail create a vertical line against the wider poolside setting. The squirrel's paws hold the straw near its mouth, while the glass sits close beside it, making the relationship between animal and drink the scene's central detail. The image balances this close, surprising encounter with a broad view of the surrounding outdoor space. Blue pool water, palm trees, wicker seating, and the reflective tabletop fill the background and foreground with varied textures. The squirrel is placed just left of the glass, and the straw bridges the gap between them in a distinctive angled line. This arrangement makes the action easy to read even amid the layered surroundings. The photograph shows a squirrel holding the straw, but it does not confirm what the animal is drinking or how the moment came about. Its appeal is visual: a tiny animal, an oversized glass, and an unlikely-looking pairing at a table.
