A mirrored view of the skull

Two grayscale side views of a skull sit opposite one another, separated by a narrow band of colored lines. The paired images give the composition an almost symmetrical rhythm, while the small R and L markers distinguish the two sides. The dark open spaces of the eye sockets and nasal area stand out against the pale outline of bone. Below them, the teeth form the most intricate detail: bright shapes clustered closely together, with visible variation in their positions and angles. The clinical imaging style makes this scene feel quite different from an ordinary portrait, but its visual structure is easy to read. The skull is presented as a study of form, not as a dramatic scene. The repeated profile invites comparison, and the contrast between the broad curves of the cranium and the crowded detail of the teeth gives the image its strongest visual tension. A restrained palette keeps attention on those shapes rather than on a surrounding setting.
