2. Millau viaduct bridge, France

Rising above the Tarn River valley, the Millau Viaduct is an engineering wonder and a symbol of contemporary France. At 1,125 feet above the valley floor, it is the tallest bridge in the world, its elegant towers extending into the clouds. The sight from the bridge is absolutely magnificent, but for those afraid of heights, crossing it can be a genuine challenge of courage. The feeling of floating high above the terrain, with only a narrow road below you and open sky surrounding, is both exciting and intimidating.
