11. Akita Inu

The Akita Inu represents a giant breed from northern Japan's mountains. They appear calm and reserved, yet beneath their thick fur and curled tail lies a large, powerful dog. Akitas demonstrate loyalty and affection with their family but less so with strangers or other animals. Without proper socialization or training, Akitas become dangerous around people outside their usual circle. Extensive training reduces risks faced by many breeds on this list.
