The Doberman Pinscher, or Dobermann, received first recognition in 1890 by German tax collector Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann. However, their high energy and protective instincts sometimes create problems. When in protection mode, Dobermans become restless, aggressive, and dangerous. They require training, socialization, and exercise to prevent misdirected energy.
