Rows of Tire-Shaped Nesting Spaces

A wall of dark, half-circle nesting spaces gives this coop its striking visual rhythm. Set into wooden supports, the tire-shaped forms repeat across several rows, each holding straw and, in many cases, a hen. The regular arrangement contrasts with the varied colors and poses of the birds: russet, cream, white, and barred feathers punctuate the dark curves. A few hens perch above or stand on the dirt floor, breaking the tidy grid and adding movement to the scene. The surrounding enclosure is made up of rough timber, a block wall, and wire mesh, with greenery visible at the left. Those natural and practical textures make the repeated black forms especially prominent. Straw softens their hard outlines and creates a consistent visual link from one opening to the next. The result is less like a conventional row of wooden cubbies and more like a layered pattern built around curved shapes. The hens bring the pattern to life, turning an orderly wall into a busy shared space.
