Radiating feathers frame a dark bird
A dark-bodied bird stands in dry grass with a dramatic spread of long, narrow feathers radiating from its chest and neck. The feather tips form a spiky oval around the upright body, while blue highlights and thin pale edges make individual strands easy to distinguish. Its long neck rises above the display, ending in a bluish head and a pale curved bill. Fine white dots pattern the dark wings and back, adding another layer of detail beneath the larger outward sweep.
Warm grasses and soft golden-brown ground create a restrained setting for the bird’s cool blue and black coloring. The display occupies much of the frame, but the bird’s head remains clearly visible above it, anchoring the elaborate shape. The open background also makes the radiating feathers legible as separate lines rather than a single dark mass. Together, the upright neck, patterned body, and outward fan create a strong contrast between a narrow central silhouette and a broad surrounding outline.
