Red plumage and a broad, banded tail

This bird’s strong red coloring makes an immediate impression against the subdued greens behind it. Dark scalloped markings cross the shoulders and wings, while closely spaced bands and small spots add texture to the body and expansive tail. The tail spreads downward like a broad fan, alternating red and black in a repeating pattern. Its curved lower edge gives the bird a distinctive outline, and the compact, upright posture makes that dramatic spread feel even more prominent. A yellow bill and a small, bright eye area draw attention to the head, which turns toward the left side of the frame. The bird sits on a rough branch that cuts across the composition, while a small leafy plant rises below it. That plant adds a fresh green accent and a sense of scale without distracting from the plumage. The image’s visual interest comes from the contrast between saturated red feathers, dark markings, and the softly blurred woodland setting.
