7. A Banana in a Bag

Apart from the clear environmental issues around such packing, these individually wrapped bananas are essentially useless. Given a banana's naturally occurring "wrapper," why would anyone believe they needed to add another layer of synthetic protection, producing non-environmentally friendly garbage? Besides adding to pollution, this pointless packaging begs issues about consumer behaviour. Furthermore, why divide your several bananas if you are already going to get many? Usually, nature's packaging is sufficient, thus it is not necessary to store all the bananas by themselves and alone. Given how bunches of bananas develop, the concept of separating every one of them seems absurd. Apart from harming the environment, all this discarded plastic probably affects the taste and freshness of the bananas themselves. Trapped moisture in the plastic might cause overripening or spoiling. All things considered, this is a pointless and wasteful packaging option that damages manufacturers' and consumers' reputation and calls on us to rethink how we handle packaging in a society going towards sustainability.
