Rooflines and lanterns fill the street scene
Here the illuminated buildings take over nearly the entire frame. Repeated roof edges, balconies, timber-colored panels, and rows of windows create a dense pattern, while red lanterns punctuate the golden lighting. The structures rise in steps from the waterside, so the eye moves upward across overlapping levels rather than following a single uninterrupted facade. A large stone arch at the left provides a contrasting shape among all the smaller rectangles and sloping rooflines.
The dark road and railing in the foreground give the bright architecture room to dominate. A few pedestrians appear small along the walkway, helping convey the scale of the built-up frontage without distracting from its detail. The image balances repetition with variation: many roofs share a similar profile, yet their different heights, angles, and spacing keep the outline lively. Against the blacker upper background, the warm lights seem especially vivid, making the street read as a continuous band of illumination.
